Mental Illness Can be Reversed or Significantly Improved with Nutritional Medicine Part 2

Schizophrenia

¼ of adults have diagnosable mental disorders, the leading cause of disability in North American ages 15-44.

Many suffer from more than one kind of mental disorder.

Schizophrenia is a biochemical imbalance that requires natural biochemicals to regulate brain function rather than chemical drugs.

With Biochemical treatment, there is a 90% potential to cure schizophrenia if caught in time.  The time frame is: natural biochemical treatment within the first 2 years of diagnosis or the patient is still young such as a teen or treatment after the 1st or 2nd episode of psychosis.

Schizophrenia is NOT genetic, though genes do determine the need for the specific amounts of nutrients.  In some families, higher amounts of nutrients are needed for brain regulation.

Lab Testing for histamine, heavy metals, neurotransmitters, blood sugar, thyroid, nutrients, food allergies/sensitivities, and urine pyrroles are very helpful to determine the best treatment protocol for a schizophrenic patient.

Heavy metals commonly present in humans include: lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic and copper. High copper levels are linked to schizophrenia, depression, autism, tardive dyskinesia and memory loss.

Pyrroles in the urine (Pyroluria) indicate oxidative stress affecting the brain and are present in people with mental health issues.  Pyrroles attach to B6 and zinc making them inactive. B6 is important for hormone and neurotransmitter balancing and energy production within the cells and zinc is important for the immune system and binds to copper, keeping it in check. Pyroluria is a marker for schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, bipolar and sudden rage.

Treating schizophrenia with high dose B vitamins, vitamin C, zinc and manganese can restore normal mental function as proven by Dr. Hoffer in his more than thirty years of medical practice.

There is a genetic malfunction in schizophrenics preventing folic acid from being absorbed and utilized.  This is because schizophrenics cannot convert folic acid to the body ready form methylfolate.   Methylfolate is therefore the form of folic acid schizophrenics should be taking.

In Hair Element Analysis, high copper levels are often found in schizophrenia, depression, autism, tardive dyskinesia and memory loss.  Copper binds to zinc, iron, vitamin C and molybdenum which will become deficient if they are not supplemented.  In fact, in high amounts, these nutrients can bind and chelate copper out of the body.

Pyrroles attach to vitamin B6 and Zinc causing deficiencies.

Antipsychotic drugs cause severe weight gain and Alpha Lipoic Acid can help detoxify copper and assist in weight loss.

Magnesium is brain calming and helps to relax muscle tension, lecithin and phosphatidyl choline feed the brain, enhancing normal brain function.

NAC (N-acetylcysteine) helps to detoxify by increasing glutathione production, DHEA improves mood and memory, Ginkgo biloba stimulates blood circulation in the brain speeding brain function, inositol is helpful to balance neurotransmitters in schizophrenia and other mental disorders.  Omega 3 fatty acids are important to supply components of cellular membranes in the body and brain.  Cellular membranes allow nutrients in and cellular metabolites and toxins out.

Gluten is a common food sensitivity/intolerance that causes inflammation and tiny holes “Leaky gut” in the small intestine.  Leaky gut leads to nutritional deficiencies of vitamins B12, B6, folic acid, magnesium, iron, zinc, L-carnitine, A, Selenium, E, K, and D among others.

Weekly B complex injections have proven to eliminate or significantly reduce headaches within 12 weeks.  Some schizophrenic patients suffer from chronic headaches.  B injections also support cellular energy production, hormone balance, neurotransmitters and other processes.

Lab testing and treatment for Lithium deficiency is very important in schizophrenia.  Lithium and other trace mineral deficiencies and toxic metals can be tested via Hair Analysis.  Bipolar, major depression, schizoaffective disorder, are linked to low lithium.  Also, low lithium intakes from water supplies are associated with increased rates of suicide, homicide and the arrest rates for drug use and other crimes. The biochemical mechanisms of action of lithium is multifactorial and involved in the functions of several enzymes, hormones and vitamins, as well as with growth and transforming factors.  Lithium is an essential trace mineral found in water, however deficient if reverse osmosis or other effective filtration is used all trace minerals including lithium is removed.

SPEC Scan-measures electrical activity in brain to detect presence of mental illness. White spots show lessened electrical activity. B injections decrease the number of white spots (therefore increasing brain function) as does zinc, vitamin B3, GABA, omega 3 oils and manganese.

Find out and remove food sensitivities.  Lab testing IgE for eggs, dairy, wheat, peanuts, and other top allergens.

Heal the Leaky gut with probiotics and specific amino acids such as L-glutamine.

Lab test Histamine level as high histamine, Histidelia, can cause psychosis. Psychoactive drugs do manipulate histamine.

Candida can cause psychosis via the acetaldehyde toxin it releases.  Oral thrush, itchy skin rash, vaginal yeast infection, intestinal dysbiosis (gas and irritation) and mental fog and fatigue are all symptoms.  Zinc, selenium, vitamins A, E, C, D3 boost the immune system to fight Candida, a Candida-specific probiotic, and if necessary, Nystatin at triple the normal dose may be required for mental illness.

Arizona Unipole Magnetics Unipolar Magnets supplies Dr. Philpott approved polar power magnetic therapy products to prevent, reverse, and manage disease.  These magnets can help calm anxiety among other issues.  www. azunimags.com

Glycine, an amino acid, has proven to stop psychosis within 1 hour.

Aside from emergency medicine, natural treatments should be the main treatments given to every patient with mental health or physical health issues.

The success rate of recovery from conventional treatment in a mental institution using psychiatry – talking about symptoms and prescription meds is a dismal 0.0005%.

Mental illness is curable despite what the North American Psychiatric Association and our lawmakers say.

The Psychiatric association’s model of diagnosis and treatment of mental illness with drugs and talk therapy is certainly a money-maker but doesn’t allow patients to recover.

Research has shown after 10 years, 79% of patients on anti-psychotic drugs became psychotic vs 23% of those not on drugs became psychotic.  Anti-psychotic drugs therefore actually cause what they are supposed to treat- psychosis!

“Hoffer -Osmond Diagnosis” (HOD Diagnostic Test)  tests how clearly a patient sees reality.  This test is available through the Society of Orthomolecular Medicine via your Naturopathic doctor.

Schizo-affective disorders, psychosis and other mental disorders may be caused by viruses, bacteria, toxoplasmosis gondii, sarcoidosis, fungi settling in vulnerable areas of brain and body
